Biography: Berto ZDrums & Percussion, Vocals
Berto was born and raised in Los Angeles and had music, especially drums, in his veins almost since birth. His father played guitar and wrote songs he recorded in a makeshift home studio. As a child on a trip to a music studio with his dad, he sat down at a drum set there and his love for drums began.
In high school he formed the rock band, Shell Shock, with starry-eyed friends. Rehearsals began in his bedroom (sorry, neighbors!) and not very long afterwards he made his performance debut at Hollywood's world famous Troubadour. Through the 1980s he played alongside pre-fame rock bands such as, Ratt, Motley Crue and Poison at all the major Hollywood venues; The Roxy, The Whiskey, Gazzari's, etc.
After some time off of the club scene to study the art of drums with a protege of David Garibaldi (of Tower of Power fame), Berto formed another band, 40 Fingers, in the mold of 90s alternative rock. This band also played all the LA clubs but also was successful with mini-tours of different states/cities.
In the mid-90s, he made a business decision and decided to become a "working musician" and started working in cover and tribute bands. He worked in various bands covering everything from Disco, to New Wave, to Alternative, to Pop.
When not working with The Long Run, he works with Lights, a tribute to Journey. And when not doing that he's writing and recording songs in his not-so-makeshift home studio (thanks, Dad!) or enjoying his other loves, cooking, computers and reading.
He plays DW drums and Zildjian cymbals exclusively.
